2. Enhancing partnerships for tiger conservation

The survival of the wild tiger represents one of mankind’s ultimate sustainability challenges. Tigers, dependent upon large areas of contiguous habitat and sufficient prey, are diminishing rapidly as their habitat is increasingly fragmented and restricted. One innovative conservation option is to involve land-owners and concession holders in providing parts of their land to be managed as tiger conservation areas, either as a contribution to core habitat or as wildlife “corridors” connecting tiger reserves. In this expert panel of tiger conservation practitioners and land managers, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities relating to this potentially ground-breaking “corporate-managed tiger reserve” approach.
