Friday, 29 April 2011 0730 – 0845 Breakfast dialogues 1. Transforming commitment into action: Accelerating progress towards the Millennium Development Goals through public-private partnerships and inclusive business (By invitation only) Java Room Chaired and hosted by UNDP Welcome note: El-Mostafa Benlamlih, UNDP RR/RC Chair: Heru Prasetyo, Presidential Working Unit, Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4) Ajay Chibber, Director, UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific (RBAP) Y.W. 2. Enhancing partnerships for tiger conservation The survival of the wild tiger represents one of mankind’s ultimate sustainability challenges. Tigers, dependent upon large areas of contiguous habitat and sufficient prey, are diminishing rapidly as their habitat is increasingly fragmented and restricted. One innovative conservation option is to involve land-owners and concession holders in providing parts of their land to be managed as tiger conservation areas, either as a contribution to core habitat or as wildlife “corridors” connecting tiger reserves. In this expert panel of tiger conservation practitioners and land managers, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities relating to this potentially ground-breaking “corporate-managed tiger reserve” approach. (Open to all delegates - pre-registration required) Sulawesi Room Hosted by WWF Moderator: Neil Franklin, Special Advisor, WBCSD Laura D’Arcy, Co-Country Coordinator, Zoological Society of London - Indonesia Programme Aniela Maria, Deputy Director, Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement, APP Indonesia Peggy Melati Sukma, Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation, Indonesia Tony Sumampuw, Wildlife Expert, Taman Safari Park, Indonesia
3. Driving sustainable growth strategies for forest-based industries Amidst the most challenging business circumstances, forestry and forest-based industries remain a promising sector for developing countries with rich forest resources, both natural and plantations. Despite the economic downturn and natural disasters occurring in consumer countries, the demand side indicates that forest-based products are irreplaceable to any other alternatives due to their nature distinctiveness. This expert panel of leaders will share and discuss different angles of strategies, from the business and NGOs perspective. (Open to all delegates - pre-registration required) Kalimantan Room Co-hosted by WWF Moderator: Charles Emmerson Dicky Simorangkir, Forest Program Director, TNC Indonesia Robert Hunink, Global Head, Wood Products Business, Olam Rob Evans, Technical Advisor, PT PwC Indonesia Advisory
4. Coral Triangle low-carbon tourism initiative (Open to all delegates - pre-registration required) Tourism remains the fastest growing economic sector and in many small developing countries, represents the main source of foreign currency earnings as well as the highest employer of local people. It also exerts a significant (often the largest) ecological footprint upon the very environment it sells and markets and utilizes, a paradox which offers unique opportunities for building business/nature mechanisms. This expert panel of leaders will share and discuss public private partnership approach as it is implemented in Fiji and Indonesia, under the President Yudoyono’s pioneered Coral Triangle Initiatives. Maluku Room Co-hosted by WWF Moderator: Charlie Avis, Conservation Director, WWF South Pacific Program Officer Chris Andrew, Chief Executive Officer, Greenlight Technology Group Maaike Göbel, Manager, Southeast Asia and Pacific, REEEP Agus Priyono, Director General of Development for Tourism Destination, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Republic of Indonesia

0920 – 1020 Plenary discussion panel REDD+ partnerships to restore biodiversity and forest communities REDD+ has both economic and environmental outcomes. This panel of experts will examine different aspects of REDD+ partnerships and how these can be leveraged to drive economic growth that is both environmentally and socially sustainable. Key issues include how industry, civil society and governments can promote sustainable forestry management practices, protect biodiversity and establish sustainable supply chains; and how to create balance and equity for all parties involved, including forest communities. 1120 - 1220 Plenary discussion panel Advancing sustainable business in Asia Many businesses are already contributing to a more sustainable future whether it be through innovative business models, new partnerships, or the development of low-carbon technologies. In this session regional executives will reflect on the key drivers creating change, new business leadership, and how to translate the changing political, economic and social landscapes into low carbon, resource efficient goods and services. Moderator: Alex MacGilvray, Chief Executive Officer, Climate Business Daud Dharsono, President Director, PT Smart Tbk Derren Green, Director, Sustainability, Asia Pacific & Japan, SAP Peggy Liu, Chairperson, Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy (JUCCCE) Bret Mattes, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Star Energy Arpin Wiradisastra, President Director, PT Danayasa Arthatama Tbk

1430 - 1530 Plenary discussion panel Inspiring change: The role of media and film in advancing solutions for our planet The power of the media and film industry to drive positive social and environmental change is increasingly clear. It is not enough however, for journalists just to write about the issues of environment and climate change. They must demonstrate with real action and become the change they want to see. This inspiring panel of leaders will show how, through the influence of media, we can scale up environmental education and really change the way people purchase and consume for a more sustainable, greener future. Moderator: Hayden Turner, National Geographic Wildlife Presenter Matthew Godfrey, President, Y&R Asia Graham Hill, Founder, Treehugger.com, Vice President, Interactive Media, Planet Green Nadya Hutagalung, Activist & Founder, www.greenkampong.com Wimar Witoelar, Columnist & Media Personality
1530 – 1630 Plenary discussion panel Delivering transformative solutions for our planet Responding to environmental and social trends requires business transformation across many sectors. But big corporations often struggle to innovate. This concluding plenary session considers innovation in the context of sustainability, and brings together an expert speaker panel who will share their methods, challenges and lessons learned to raise the understanding of the innovation process - revealing why and how the sustainability agenda takes us beyond incremental change today. Moderator: Ram Nidumolu, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, InnovaStrat Ranjit Barthakur, Advisor, Tata Consulting Services Carrie Freeman, Director, Sustainable Business Innovation, Intel Alison Rowe, Global Executive Director, Sustainability, Fujitsu Jim Walker, International Programmes & Strategy Director, Co-Founder, The Climate Group 1630 Closing |
